Retrofitting processes and optimization

  • Establish a clear and efficient framework for retrofitting railfreight wagons across Europe with DAC technology. 
    We measure the retrofitting times for each train three times (at the second wagon, halfway through, and at the penultimatewagon). 
     
  • The second task aims to validate and enhance the retrofittingprocedures established and enhance latest technologicaldevelopments. 

Maintenance monitoring

  •  We use an existing app and are developing new components forDAC train inspections to document damage to railcars. All wagon inspectors will be equipped with this app.
  • We act as a safety reporting system. As soon as major damageto a coupler/wagon is detected, we notify the other operators.
  • Evaluation of the damages with regard to damaged parts, areaof operation, operating conditions, costs for spare parts, cost ofrepairs, special tools
  • The collected reports will be used to derive the maintenance and repair costs, etc.
  • Developing and distribution of new/changed maintenanceinstructions based on the findings
  • Determination of the wear and tear of the DAC during or at least after completion of the project 
  • Estimation of future maintenance costs if the DAC is used further
